At L’Autre Usine, a commitment to the environment from day one! In 2016, the 16,000 m² former industrial wasteland gave way to the complex we know today, following a complete clean-up of the building.
A rooftop photovoltaic power plant
Since l’Autre Usine opened on April 1, 2016, our roof has been fitted with over 8,000 m² of solar panels. This photovoltaic power plant, with a capacity of 1.4 megawatt-peak (equivalent to the energy consumption of 300 households), enables l’Autre Usine to produce twice as much electricity as it consumes.
Setting up a Building Management System
2024 marks the arrival of BMS at l’Autre Usine. BMS, or Building Management System, is a system that enables companies to control and optimise their energy consumption. Thanks to BMS, the management of heating, ventilation and lighting will be simplified, with significant energy savings at the end of the day. The aim is to reduce our energy consumption by 60% between now and 2050 (compared with the reference year 2019).
A second life
At l’Autre Usine, nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed! It’s in the very DNA of our complex, a former industrial factory that’s been turned into a truly lively place. We try to give a second life to as many objects and materials as possible. Used kart tyres, for example, are transformed into decorative baskets by Aurélie Vannerie, a contemporary wickerwork designer based in Cholet. The cans and barrels used as bar tables on the complex are for their part respectively collected from the Cholet flying club and the Parnay vineyard.
In the restaurant, local and seasonal produce
Our environmental commitments extend right down to the kitchen! At l’Autre Usine’s restaurant, we offer homemade, seasonal dishes created from local produce. From meat and fish to fruit and vegetables, we source our produce from local partners such as Maison Rolandeau for our red fruit and Maison Gaborit for some of our organic dairy products.
